Check out Washington and paddle up a serene river!
This spot is pretty basic and doesn't have any amenities but it does have great views of Mt. Hood and calm water to paddle. There is a small beach on the east shore. Please respect the signage on the west banks of the river and stay off the wetlands. You can paddle about a quarter mile up the river with minimal crowds and Mt. Hood views. It can get shady quickly here since you are in a river valley, so be sure to dress appropriately.
If you choose to access the Columbia from here please be aware of the wind conditions as the wind can pick up quickly and make paddling conditions very difficult. The mouth of the river is also a popular fishing location, so watch out for fishermen if you choose to venture down that way.
Access Information
You can access this spot directly from HWY 14 on the Washington side of the Columbia. It has a gravel parking lot for several cars. Beware the water in the White Salmon river is much colder than that of the Columbia.
