A small island off the shore from The Hook. This is a great place to explore on no wind days.
The easiest way to access Wells Island is from the West end of The Hook. A short paddle West will get you to the island. On windy days conditions can be difficult, so we recommend this area for no wind days only. Also be aware that the current in the Columbia moves east to west, so you will have to paddle slightly against the current to get back to the launch.
The nicest beaches on the island are located on the west and northeast sides of the island. Depending on the day and time of year the island can be very buggy.
Access Information
Park on the west end of the hook nearest to the launch ramp. There is a nice artificial grass area that is great for setting / wrapping up your gear.
